T Strickland ‘Plays It Forward’ for MSF

T Strickland, a singer/songwriter originally from North Carolina who has performed at the Bluebird Cafe in Nashville as well as Blues on Clark in Chicago was awarded the grand prize at the Women With a Cause Gala on Friday, February 18th and has donated her proceeds of nearly $3,000 to the Matthew Shepard Foundation. Women With A Cause Foundation launched the ‘Play It Forward,’ event to promote economic development for women, and did just that this past Friday as 10 finalists competed before celebrity judges, such as Jake Schroeder, Maggie Rosewell, Kirk Montgomery, Wende Curtis and Barry Fey.  Women With a Cause, WE Initiative, provides economic development programs that will focus on education and skills training for women which will enable them to be lifted out of poverty and lead them to self-sufficiency while earning a sustainable income, here in Denver!  T chose to “Play It Forward” for the Matthew Shepard Foundation because she believes strongly in the message of the Foundation.  “The message of tolerance goes beyond LGBT issues, towards solving a multitude of society’s problems,” Strickland said.
