Voting, is a key piece of our citizen responsibilities and our accountability to our friends, neighbors, family, and community. It is your right, your duty and your future. In all elections, we must make sure that the voice of the LGBT and allied community - in all of its diversity - is heard loud and clear. We need to educate ourselves about the issues and the candidates and reach out to our friends and families and get them involved as well. We need to hold each other accountable when it comes to voting - and, of course, we also need to hold those who are elected accountable. There is an old maxim that goes, "If you're not part of the solution, then you're part of the problem."
So what do you need to do to become part of the solution?
There are five tasks that you can do that will make a difference:
1. REGISTER to vote.
2. EDUCATE yourself on the issues. Find out what your candidate(s) want to do for you - and to you.
3. PASS IT ON to your family and friends, educating them about the issues affecting the LGBT community and encouraging them to vote.
4. Actually VOTE in the election.
5. And, finally, STAY INVOLVED and hold your elected officials accountable!!!
