Milk worked for years in the Castro District and across the state to make sure that all people were treated equally. Ultimately, his work lead to his assassination, but only after defeating an anti-LGBT state referendum that would have banned all LGBT and allied teachers.

Out of the Pocket tells the story of a 17 year old high school football star named Bobby. He struggles with what his parents, coach and teammates would think if they knew their quarterback were gay. He also worries about how his sexual orientation will affect his prospects for playing football in college and the pros. He learns that there are only two things to you can do to things that cannot be changed; deny it, or accept it.

Long before she came out as a lesbian in a 1992 interview in the gay newsmagzine The Advocate, and long before she appeared on the 1993 cover of Vanity Fair lounging in male drag in a barber's chair with Cindy Crawford hovering teasingly over her, lesbians had made k.d. lang their own. They were drawn not only by her gender-bending hairstyle and clothes, but also by her achingly beautiful voice and her intensely romantic singing style. A country girl, lang, whose given name is Kathryn Dawn, grew up in the tiny Canadian town of Consort, deep in Alberta's farming territory. With chat rooms to talk about relationships, coming out, and just about everything else, GYC offers a safe and moderated place for free and open discussion.
